Al Arabiya Strengthens Global Field Operations with TVU One
September 2, 2024 — Al Arabiya, one of the Middle East’s leading news networks, completed a major technology upgrade to its global field contribution infrastructure in collaboration with TVU Networks.
As part of the project, Al Arabiya upgraded its fleet of cellular-bonded transmission backpacks with TVU One, supporting the network’s continued focus on broadcast reliability, mobility, and operational efficiency.
The decision followed extensive practical use by Al Arabiya’s live contribution teams, who relied on TVU technology in demanding field environments. The performance of TVU One — particularly its image quality, low-latency transmission, and consistent connectivity — played a key role in the network’s decision to expand its use across global news-gathering operations.
Ahmed Seif, Director of News Gathering and Assignments at Al Arabiya, highlighted the value of the long-standing relationship with TVU Networks, noting that the technology has helped the broadcaster expand its ability to cover breaking news with greater speed, flexibility, and reliability.
Operating across one of the world’s most active news regions, Al Arabiya requires field technology capable of supporting fast-moving production environments while maintaining broadcast quality. The adoption of TVU One provides journalists and contribution teams with a portable and efficient transmission solution that can be deployed quickly wherever news happens.
Sherif Shamel, Senior MCR Manager, emphasized the confidence the contribution team had developed in the platform, explaining that the proven reliability of TVU One made it the preferred solution for Al Arabiya’s field transmission requirements.
Beyond performance, the compact and lightweight design of TVU One has also simplified field operations. By reducing the need for extensive on-site infrastructure and larger production crews, the solution has enabled the contribution team to operate more efficiently and respond more quickly to live events.
These workflow improvements have also delivered a significant financial impact, with Al Arabiya reporting nearly 50% cost savings within its contribution operations.
The upgrade demonstrates how modern IP-based field transmission technology can help broadcasters achieve greater mobility, reduce operational complexity, and maintain dependable live coverage across international locations.
Strengthening the Partnership and Expanding Remote Contribution
Emad Qawasmi, Managing Director – Middle East at TVU Networks, highlighted Al Arabiya as a strategic partner and reaffirmed TVU’s commitment to supporting the network with solutions that meet its future broadcast needs.
The upgrade of Al Arabiya’s field transmission fleet was supported by MEBS – Middle East Broadcast Solutions, TVU Networks’ regional partner and distributor across the MENA region.
Al Arabiya also adopted TVU Anywhere, enabling remote interviews and live contribution with minimal setup. This has given production teams greater flexibility, faster deployment, and a more cost-effective way to connect contributors from different locations.
According to Sherif Shamel, Senior MCR Manager, TVU Anywhere has expanded the network’s ability to conduct interviews efficiently while reducing the resources normally required for traditional remote contribution.
Together, TVU One and TVU Anywhere have helped Al Arabiya build a more agile IP-based workflow, improve responsiveness in the field, and reduce operational complexity.
Looking ahead, Al Arabiya sees TVU’s wider cloud ecosystem as an important part of its continued growth and ability to deliver reliable news coverage from virtually anywhere.
